FAQ

What are the sign specs?

Our signs are 12" x 18” and are printed on premium, glossy outdoor vinyl using eco-friendly solvent based ink. The vinyl is applied to a 1/8” thick DiBond poly/metal substrate durable enough to withstand tough Montana winters, but workable enough to drill in the field. They have a white border and rounded corners. With special UV protection, our signs here in Bozeman look as good as new after many seasons on the trail.

Can I customize my signs?

Yes! If you select a design that mentions a river or location, we will swap out the river/place name free of charge. If there are specific locations (beaches, deserts, golf courses) or issues (trail etiquette, invasive or endangered species, habitat protection, revegetation) that you would like to address, we can create custom signs just for you. Contact us for more information.

How do I order?

Our pricing is simple: $250 for the first sign, and $125 for each additional sign of the same design. We think these are more effective as a group, so we require a minimum opening order of $750 to make sure you get at least three sign designs. We encourage you to mix and match designs! Each sign is made to order, and we handle all the production management for you. The sign post and hardware are not included, and we ship the signs without drill holes for maximum installation flexibility. Shipping is not included. Please contact us to order.

Who are the Upstream Thinkers?

Molly Stratton and Valerie Roche are dog-obsessed trail nerds who hike, hunt, and ski on the incredible public lands surrounding Bozeman, Montana. As our small town has grown into a bustling city, we have helped our local land trust (shout out to the Gallatin Valley Land Trust!) encourage trail users to respect wildlife, natural resources, and their fellow outdoor enthusiasts by cleaning up after their dogs. We work hard to never shame or scold with our signs; instead we build messages based on humor, shared values, and modern, memorable visuals.

Who are the Upstream Stinkers?

Willa, Frankie, and Gertie!
